Aussie World First for Tuna


Seafood company Clean Seas Tuna has become the first in the world to start breeding Southern Bluefin Tuna in captivity.

The move comes after Bluefin Tuna quotas were cut by 23% in Australia, forcing producers to seek new methods of production. Clean Seas Tuna says it has started the breeding process and the new baby tuna will be moved to sea cages in March.

Managing Director Clifford Ashby says it is highly realistic that his company could duplicate the entire wild catch quota of Australia in the medium-term.
