Ebner I think you have touched on an important distinction between removing substances suspended in a solution such as bacteria and other microscopic particles and dissolved substances or blended liquids being part of the solution. I would imagine there is a place for both an osmosis type approach which would present a physical barrier and an ionic process. Certainly given me an incentive to do some more research.
