Beretta, if you are saying these fires are no worse than others in the past, of course you are correct. The number of arsonists, occurrences of lightning, etc. no doubt are not unprecedented.
But I forgot one other possibility. Good grief! It's hard to believe that people could be so careless!
Smouldering campfire likely cause of bushfire
A campfire that was not properly extinguished was the most likely cause of the bushfire that burnt through 18.2 hectares of the Namadgi National Park in southern ACT.
A spokesman for the Territory and Municipal Services Directorate said there was a strong possibility a campfire started the blaze. Emergency Services ACT confirmed it had identified remnants of a possible ignition source, which had been taped off for further investigation at a later date.
The ESA first notified the public of the fire on Sunday afternoon and reported on Monday evening that ACT Rural Fire Service crews had contained the blaze.
