that's a strong case for non compulsory voting, just think all these people are perfectly happy to give the government carte blanch to spend $42 billion as they see fit, with no review process. These people are allowed to vote? wow, scary stuff. It does explain a lot though.
I don't care which party is in power, a package like that needs thorough review. To do otherwise is stupidity. I would say the same if Howard was trying to push it through, as he tried to do with Workchoices. Thankfully the Opposition parties kicked up a stink about it when that happened, rightly so.
There seems to be a mentality in some of these political threads that if it's popular it must be right. Well that just gives us the politicians we deserve, doesn't it?! and short term thinking by those pollies which never extends beyond the next electoral cycle.
