Global clean energy spending surged 17% in 2023 to $1.8 trillion, according to BloombergNEF.
Last year was the hottest year on record, and it’s reflected in record-high clean energy investment.
“The opportunity is large and spending is accelerating, but we need to do so much more,” said Albert Cheung, BNEF’s deputy chief executive officer. BloombergNEF estimates we’ll need more than $4.8 trillion of investment annually from 2024 to 2030 to achieve a global net-zero pathway. “We’re in the steep part of the curve, and we’ll see rapid growth”
