Banjar, fires in indonesia are often from illegal logging activities that dredge wetlands and peat swamps to get timber out and dry them out to plant palm oil, once the peat gets going as a fire it is very hard to put out. The annual burning season is land use change in action. It is not unlike what we did in Australia 100 years ago
