The point about the ozone layer and CFCs is a good example of humans taking action to repair and preserve the atmosphere. That action was taken following empirical evidence that CFCs depleted the ozone layer. Where is the empirical evidence that human emissions of CO2 alter the climate? It seems to me to be an assumption, fed into computer models.
I don't confuse CFCs with CO2, a gas the makes up less than 400 parts per million of the atmosphere. Humans contribute 120 of the 400 ppm. Of all the factors that can influence climate, why has CO2 been chosen as the most influential? Why not methane, which is less prevalent in the atmosphere but is a far more deleterious gas?
I'm just a punter with an interest in climate. And I think the globe is struggling with overpopulation, deforestation, soil degradation, pollution and dozens of other problems, not just environmental. What I object to is the scaremongering that humans will cause a climate catastrophe with their CO2 emissions. I saw a placard in NY at the climate change rally saying "the end is coming." Well, if it is, will it be because of our emissions of CO2?
