Just for giggles I'm going to point out some flaws in your logic.
There will always be massive demand for oil not just for energy but for plastics and fertilizers.
If demand for oil drops too low OPEC will just tighten supply to jack up the price. The Saudis made their serious money when demand was half it is today.
If you want to stop mad mullahs getting oil money you can just use embargos. Faster, cheaper, and more effective than trying to fight economic reality.
