The great mouse plagues were great fun. 1983 was a very wet season with a wet harvest which was then followed by an almighty mouse plague. I remember visiting a friend in Parkes Hospital and all bed legs were standing in buckets of water to stop the critters climbing into bed with the patients. Two of our sons were born there in 1989 and 1990 and the care was excellent. Not a mouse in sight.
