If there is a possibility that humans could be causing irreversible damage to our climate which could cause catastrophic consequences or even extinction exactly what figure would you yourself be willing to accept as reasonable to gamble on our future... 1 in 100? 1 in 1000?
The logic here assumes that "warming" is the only risk to mankind. I'm in the peak oil camp and believe that our limited resources (boy! Aren't they limited) should be directed at the more immediate threat. Coincidentally, much of what you would do to alleviate PO would also improve the environment, if done correctly.
As an example, if PO was taken seriously the extraction of oil from the Alberta tar sands would be done with nuclear reactors on the fields rather than the crappy way they do it now. That should please the warming alarmists big-time.
