There is not enough gas in Victoria to supply cheap reliable base load power, there is enough brown coal suitable for this process and subsequent emission reductions.
Environment Victoria are happy to point out that 95% of the power generated in Victoria is from the dirtiest of sources, brown coal. There technology ready to be rolled out today to dramatically reduce the emissions.
