Evidence is either valid or invalid. Someone's opinion is irrelevant to that. But when you're feeble minded you can't help but be drawn to opinions. In fact, you don't care about the evidence part of the "peer reviewed evidence", you just care about holding a view that is acceptable to others.

When you say "peer reviewed evidence" you mean "what point of view is acceptable to my spouse, neighbour and TV personality?"

Alex (like you) follows his neighbour, his kindergarten teacher, his parents and his TV.

If there was any kind of real cost (social or pecuniary) to his beliefs on any issue he would immediately change his mind. He would then give himself praise for allowing the "facts" to guide *both* his old and new positions. Never mind that he was so certain of his old position he was prepared to sacrifice billions of lives for it.
