I am on holiday in Japan at the moment and dropped into the national science and technology museum, with the kids. It is interesting to note the very different perspective and teaching in relation to coal over here.
I translated a coal exhibit using google - was written in Japanese. Translation may not be perfect, but I think it is clear from a Japanese perspective coal is considered essential and a fundamentally good thing (“beautiful”) for society. Their focus seems to be on downstream clean-up, co2 capture etc rather than eliminating coal. Common sense.
