It's interesting that the vast majority of scientists involved have no doubt about the future. One apparently is doing a course on psychology out of sheer frustration, to try to communicate with a public that continues to deny the obvious. Apparently the survival instinct doesn't kick in until a threat to our wellbeing is more imminent but are we really that selfish and shallow? As for the polititions, they are so biased in their denial and influential from their position it seems quite hopeless that we will reverse out of this path.
The other factors crippling the planet such as the pollution shown in China are all symptoms of the same problem, there are far too many of our species to be sustainable. Economic contraction coupled with strict population controls to reduce world numbers to less than 1 billion are essential. We have already wiped out much of the other life and polluted the habitat of the remainder.
We all share the responsibility for what has been done and how it will eventuate.
