In my opinion, Dutton (head of the LNP) he is just wanting to appear different than the Labor party, unfortunately he has saddled up the wrong horse, which is a continuation of Howard, Abbott and Morrison.
These politicians are more interested in getting in power, they have no interest in managing Australia for the voters.
If the LNP had a reset, and considered Australians wants and needs, they could build a decent opposition base, if they are not prepared to do it tough in opposition for while, well, they better get used to being a negative thinking party who will be in the back blocks for some time to come.

The national party for a start could listen to the National Farmers Federation, who support farmers and are fully aware of their needs.
The LNP, could also have a look at one of Robert Menzies radio broadcasts, on his ambitions for Australians, it is a far cry from the current rantings of the LNP.
