You can manage risk further eg Don't live in the Lismore flood zone or any flood plain or bushfire area.

You may live on an island and have little choice and also little funds. Wipe outs may happen say 5 times every 20 years. That is loss of your house too. The Pacific Islanders cope with this just fine by only putting so much time and effort into their grass houses. Poor westerners can do this too on their somewhat higher scale and lower risk profile.

You can't eliminate risk from life and there are many reasons why trying to do so is unwise anyway.
