The problem is that "greenie" councils usually refuse householders requests to have trees removed. I know of one case where the home owner made repeated requests to a coastal council to be given permission to remove a dangerous tree they considered to be a "widow maker" It did cause the death of the husband when a large branch hit him. Council was sued and payout substantial. The wife never recovered from the loss.
