Forget it, there is no point arguing this, you are not just dealing with ad-hoc delusional denial, you are dealing with representatives (whether they know it or not) of the damn original cult itself.

It is really depressing to see the respect of scientific knowledge and research constantly needing to defend itself (wasting time and resources) by the unintelligent majority of the populace who, ironically, have felt empowered by what that same science gifted them (the internet). However the root of all this, as seen in the past couple of decades, stems from the aggressive resurgence of Conservative fundamental Christianity. Naturally an organisation that has two millennia of experience in twisting information and hearsay observations into appealing stories, promises, guilt and threats, is the perfect instrument for lobbying simple people with easily digestible ideas (memes), regardless of how incorrect the information is.

Earth is flat, sure the bible says so. Men on the moon? Impossible, that's in the realm of the heavens. Climate change? No way can people cause that without God's say-so. Vaccines? Tested on (decades old) embryonic culture (from aborted foetus) so it can only be evil. How about that orange dude that is the antithesis of everything outlined in our guide book? We'll just ignore all that because he's got the support of our fairy-tale fan-club, and that's all that matters.

Everything that is divisive these days is nothing more than the Church desperately trying to claw back a shred a relevance, after centuries of Scientific advancement relegated their God into a few pitiful cracks in our expanding knowledge (God-of-the-Gaps).Apparently, with few options remaining, resorting to the spread of any misinformation to propagate validity, in the name of supporting their fairy-tale friend, is deemed a-ok.

While I can at least understand how religious morons get caught up in this, it's really sad and pathetic when those who claim to be non-religious also get swept up in the memes and bullshit - basically sucked in into a bible basher trolling fest.

Best thing to do is just ignore them, as it's impossibly exhausting to constantly point out stupidity to people who have a vested collective interest in remaining so.
