Those are not the motivations of those who are sceptics. Basically we do not believe that anthropogenic global climate change is real enough to have any significant effect. We do not buy the doomsday story. Yes there will be droughts in future, yes there will be wild storm events in future but you plan for them to meet the needs at the time, you do not cripple your economy and think you can really have an impact. The energy from fossil fuels makes us productive because it is cheap. When more money has to go on generating power then there is less money for other things.

You are 24 so you do not really understand the consequences of relying on all those clean technologies that are and will be into the future, very expensive. Are you happy about the birds being killed by wind turbines, will you be happy to see them spoiling the skyline in your view? Have you installed solar panels and getting money for your excess power? Guess who pays for your deal? Us, not the Government, so our prices rise so you can have a deal. Guess who installs solar panels, those with lots of extra cash. The poor will have to pay to support the rich. And if you think the Government will reimburse you for the cost of the carbon tax well into the future then you would be a real fool. The whole idea is to drive down power usage from fossil fuel. As any one in the market will tell you the best way to do that is to drive up prices. That will apply to all.
