you are obviously not aware that the federal govt led by known green prime minister JW Howard imposed the ban on nuclear power in 1998, hence my reference to him that you didn't read.
one of Howard's political traits was that he was always a stooge for big business, and at every opportunity put the interests of big business ahead of that of ordinary Australians.
the uranium industry couldn't argue the case then and must be spewing now at how extreme conservatives have turned the issue into a political football in their desperate love of fossil fuels, high priced energy and mindless opposition to the transition to renewables underway.
