Meanwhile, Panax Resources says it has completed terms of agreements for an Indonesian geothermal joint venture with PT Bakrie. The proposed developments include a
30 MW geothermal power plant on the island of Flores, and a 25MW plant to power an underground zinc and lead mine in Sumatra. The Flores project has won a tender to produce energy at a tariff of $U$125/MWh, excluding applicable carbon credits. The company says the geothermal field is well explored and includes three completed exploration wells and geothermal reservoir temperatures at depths of 1,500m to 2,000m are estimated at more than 230?C. The island has a total population of 1.5 million and currently relies on diesel plants for electricity."
