Article today "GREEN DEALS: From hoists to fuel cells
Ceramic Fuel Cells has struck a sales and service agreement with home products specialist Hills Holdings for the distribution of its BlueGen product. Ceramic hopes that Hills ? the maker of the iconic Hills Hoist, which has now transformed into a $1 billion business installing home and eco products ? can help it tap the market for its BlueGen fuel cell, which uses gas to deliver a stand-alone energy and water heating appliance in the house at vastly reduced emissions and energy costs.
Ceramic puts that market for fuel cells in Australia at ?several hundred thousand? ? based on there being three million households using gas ? although sales of its newly released product, to date, only amount to several dozen. Managing director Brendan Dow said the deal with Hills could lead to longer-term ?strategic opportunities? for manufacturing of the products. It has similar distribution agreements with Melbourne-based green products retailer, Neco, and Harvey Norman?s commercial division in NSW and the ACT."
