From hospital admissions at the start of the pandemic two things were known, before clinical trials began. One, males were more likely to be hospitalized. Two, much older people were more likely to be hospitalized.

    Headline effectiveness - Pzifer/Moderna 95%, Oxford 62% (standard dose / standard dose)

From the clinical trail summary documents - populations in the trails:
    Pzifer - Male 51% Older than 65 years 21%
    Moderna - Male 53%, Older than 65 years 25%
    Oxford - Male 39%, Older than 55 years 12%

The oxford trial measured the age category split ten years younger at 55 years of age, even with this older people were still very poorly represented. Males also poorly represented and yet this was the gender at most risk. Contrived to get an outcome? But yet still only 62% effective.

If the Oxford vaccine had been assessed against the gender/age demographics of the Pzifer or Moderna vaccine trials, you don't have to be a statistician to work out that the Oxford effectiveness would likely be less than 50%.

The oxford vaccine also had the mix-up that resulted in two unintentional sub groups, standard dose / standard dose and the low dose / standard dose. Counter intuitively, the results produced more efficacy in the second group LD/SD.

The US/Canada and the EU have not approved Oxford. More trials have been commissioned. The TGA here in Australia yet to make a decision.

What happens if you receive a double dose of an ineffective vaccine, and you are later inoculated with a more effective vaccine. Which response will your immune system mount in the face of an infection? Would you have to wait a few years for your system to deprogram the ineffective vaccine?
