Redrock I dont know anything about the Clinton Foundation but on Charitable Foundations in general its not unusual to collect a swag of money that sits in accounts earning interest and the interest or other earnings are used to dispense charitable works. That ensures the Foundation will be there in perpetuity to fulfil its charitable functions on an on-going basis.

Even though I guess its not a charity thats how our govt's own future fund works. Money from sale of Telstra etc went into the Future Fund and the earnings are used to pay the generous pensions and superannuation of politicians and public servants.
