I don't see that as obvious. Frequently spiritual components have the penalty as part of the command; bestiality, buggery etc.
RM, reading the Gospels only confuses the situation. Ask, and it shall be given, for instance, just doesn't work. Different genealogies, different ways of dying for Judas (although Paul says he didn't die), different versions of the tomb and resurrection, silly myths about a roman guard .......
