That comment is indicative of the hypocrisy of the left.

Refugee camps in the true sense of the word - the camps at the closest point of escape for desperate refugees - offer refugees "no hope".

So refugees with initiative should head to wherever they want to go (not necessarily the nearest safe haven)...and we should not have any Refugee Camps for them upon arrival - simply short term processing centres, I take it.

So what about genuine refugees who cannot afford to pay smugglers?

A genuine refugee is not in a position to pick and choose. Unfortunate, but true.

According to The Greens website:

• Refugees to live in the community as soon as possible.
• Give full work rights to refugees and asylum seekers on bridging visas so they can support themselves where possible.

The Greens don't appear to care about true refugees sitting in camps who cannot afford to pay people smugglers for a fast-track trip to their destination of choice.
The Greens are therefore collaborating in the illegal immigration trade, encouraging a smooth transition only for those who can pay their way to leave.

Hypocrites.
