Nearly 120 dogs found wallowing in their own filth have been rescued from battery conditions after a police raid in Victoria's north.
Four dead dogs and six cats were also emancipated from the Longwood puppy farm following public tip-offs and a lengthy investigation from a special division of RSPCA Victoria.
The registered owner of the farm, award-winning breeder Heather Healey, had fallen foul of an RSPCA sting in 2010, when the video above was shot.
As the RSPCA notes, the breeds seized in this latest raid include thoroughbreds like spaniels, chihuahuas, and Chinese crested, many of which were found languishing in their own excrement.
Healey, as The Age reports, runs the Euroa Kennel Club and is secretary of the Chihuahua Club of Victoria. According to the Herald Sun, police are investigating links between the puppy farm and the show dog industry.
"All of the animals were taken into care because of immediate and serious concerns for their welfare," RSPCA Victoria said.
"They were allegedly found to be living in small cages and squalid conditions, both inside and outside the residences. Veterinarians attending the premises also identified a number of health and husbandry concerns."
The 119 dogs have been taken into care and are being examined by vets. Thus far no charges have been laid in connection with the raid.
