You just answered your own question. Many people sell for many reasons (including directors). Someone could be gifting it to their family. Someone could be selling down to help their child for a house deposit. Someone could be selling to fund family medical bills. Someone could have had plans for the money. Someone could be rebalancing their investments. Another could have a big tax bill. Someone could have a margin call elsewhere. Another could have a private startup investment opportunity, a la shark tank style. Someone could be simply wanting to buy a new car, boat, farm, a really flash 98” 4K OLED TV. Some are simply following their tea leaves/charts (or reading it the wrong way).

A thousand and one reasons to sell, and that’s spectacular because that’s what makes a (liquid) market! If everyone only wanted to buy, that’d be a very terrible market.
