Two years is a pretty meaningless time horizon. What about someone who bought and held bank shares ten years ago? They would be nicely placed after all those fat dividends and untaxed capital gains.
The biggest boy of them all (Buffet) built his fortune on a Buy/Hold strategy. In the long run, most amateur traders don't make a cent after costs, tax and inflation. The majority of professional bank traders are simply earning margins off customer volumes.
