I am getting a bit confused - "having a go themselves" would seem to fly in the face of science a bit.
A formulation that contains maybe 3% cannabis material is not the same thing you could mix up in a garden shed. There is a lot of other chemical inputs into the final product.
MXC has attempted to vertically integrate its operations - and, let's face it, the big profits won't be in growing  but in distribution. Essentially, being the "middle man" in the whole operation.
If MXC's formulation has one additional additive - or in different quantities then it is a different product and getting a patent for it would surely not be an issue.

Really happy to be educated on this topic. Not really up with the science or the legal aspects with patents.
