Ann says that the first core sample will be taken in the Epsilon Formation (the middle part of the REM formations). That is not far below where they are now and just depends when the results of the core sample are known and announced.
But, at this rate, all going well, you would expect Target Depth to be reached before the end of September, with "possible" core sample results within that time.
Halifax-1 is today at around 3400 metres. Encounter and Holdfast only drilled to 3,612 metres and penetrated 393 metres of REM shale formation.
Halifax-1 is intended to go an extra 500m deeper, well into the lower Patchawarra Formation, which Beach (and ICN) believe will hold an additional 500 metres of gas bearing shale than was discovered in Encounter and Holdfast(an extra 900 metres in all!!).
THAT, is what we will all soon know and hopefully, celebrate.
