Guys, while a lot of us are passionate about certain topics, especially the asylum seeker debate, it is inevitable that the posts will get closed down if the thread just degenerates into one liners which can easily be misconstrued as being heartless or intolerant.
I know i get annoyed when people call me racist or intolerant, but I at least try to give an argument which supports my position. You are leaving yourself open to being called one of those if you are not willing to support your position with carefully chosen words.
I like to debate the immigration topic, but it doesn't take much for the topic to degenerate. I know a lot of us are anti boat people, but instead using one liners which border on being insensitive, how about using putting more thoughts into our posts. Otherwise, all we do is give people reasons to call us racist, intolerant, rednecks etc. I am sure we are smart enough to back up our stance constructively.
