it has been a long time since watso worked out Wiluna way - but there used to be an enterprise called desert gold - and they grew melons and stuff like that (also fruit trees).. the aboriginals must have got some funding to buy it out and what a shambles it turned out to be ..
there was a white manager who had to do his best with the labour force - where work was basically optional ..
there was some housing development - which was totally ruined ..

the originals were actually a civilization - with welcome to country ceremonies for other itinerant tribes wandering around looking for some spare roos and a bit of surplus water from a water hole .
more recently, watso was surprised to learn that they were also astrologers (or was it astronomers )- anyway something to do with the stars - they were the full bottle on knowing all about the stars ...
one thing for sure, is that watso knows when he has had a few full bottles of king browns, he sees plenty of stars ..
anyway - what was it - are we up to the 15th "closing of the gap" reports??.. looks like nothing has changed much since the days that watso worked all through the mineral exploration areas of west Australia
one thing for sure that watso has noticed, is that a lot of the originals have gaps in their teeth ...
and these people want a say in the legislation - enshrined in the constitution .. and pray tell, but who is going to be the ones passing judgement on relevant laws.. probably aboriginals with 95% European heritage .
watso has west European heritage - and now 100% Australian .. the whole watso clan - ie parents, siblings, watso's children, nephews , nieces etc etc have been great contributors to this country..
