    That's what a contract is, a negotiation. At the end of a contract (or even in the middle of, if the contract specifies) terms are renegotiated. The important factor really is, has the company provided adequate service, and is the value of this service considered better than the opposition. Customer retention is a very important factor in any business. The statement that some commercial contracts negotiations are ahead reflects the nature of the business, don't see alot to be alarmed about with that particular statement.
