At the end of the day, the country can't rely on Labor politicans to police their own when in Government, that falls to the Opposition and the press. Don't decry the sentiment behind the attempt just because on this particular occasion (or this particular season) it didn't find anything. Every time the Senator asks a question and receives a satisfactory answer, trust gets a boost. Again, transparency has a resource cost, Scott, and it's certainly a cost worth bearing.
