Actually, $890,000,000,000AUD equals $625,000,000,000USD. In any case I don't think there is any point comparing China, the world's second largest economy and by many accounts soon to be the world's largest economy with one of the world's poorest countries in Myanmar or with any number of impoverished countries for that matter. It's like comparing Australia and Tuvalu or Australia with the world's smallest 100+ countries.

The amount mentioned is to be spent between now and 2020 and as China is a $10tn ($10,000,000,000,000) economy that spending represents a mere 2% of China's GDP. It is hardly pie in the sky stuff.

Anyone who is well read and well informed yet alone anyone who has actually visited the country will know that China faces severe environmental problems. Spending a mere 2% of its GDP over the next five years to clean up its toxic water supply is an entirely plausible and reasonable action by the Chinese government, especially so when it is clear for all of those who are educated to see that if the Chinese government doesn't take concrete steps to clean up its pollution problems today there will be no tomorrow.

China is not unlike Japan in that it takes a long time to get going, but China is unlike any other country in the world in that once it gets going it proceeds at a speed that all other countries around the world can only dream of.

I wouldn't be writing off CLQ and the prospects for its water projects in the country just yet.
