CLQ and SpaceX

There has been plenty of talk on here about how CLQ would be valuable to TSLA, but as far as I'm aware no one has spoken about SpaceX.

The benefits of Scandium Aluminium alloys to a company like SpaceX are clear, but it got me thinking about our water tech.

At the moment SpaceX plans to send people to mars by 2022. People need water, mars has plenty but it's contaminated with perchlorates (salt).

"They found that the soil samples likely contained magnesium sulfate, magnesium perchlorate, sodium perchlorate, potassium perchlorate, sodium chloride and calcium carbonate."

The recent announment "Clean TeQ successfully completes demonstration project for brine hardness removal in China." States "Clean TeQ’s mobile demonstration unit treated reverse osmosis (RO) filtration brine continuously for two weeks, consistently removing hardness (Calcium and Magnesium) down to zero"

I don't know what type of magnesium or calcium was removed, but perchlorates are salts so it might, or could be made to work.

Could Clean Teq's water filtration be used on mars?

My understanding is that the ore is processed and then they use the resin to extract the particular elements. Adding more resins will mean you can mine many elements with the same mining infrastructure.



Yes this is unlikely but don't think it has been discussed here before.

Magnesium perchlorate has 8 atoms of oxygen per molecule and is fairly abundant so I know for a fact they will be processing it on mars (if they get there) instead of just bringing their own water.
