LICs are transparent. Their nta is reported each month & also a list of their major shareholdings.
LICs spread their risk by investing in a large number of companies in different industries.
They also have the option of short selling as well as keeping large cash holdings in times of uncertainty.
If you buy my LICs now & they yield over 10% grossed up, imagine what the yield is for me, having bought the shares over a number of years at prices significantly lower than they are at present.
You mentioned in an earlier post that if I borrowed $100m to short ACR I could retire.
Well Mita I retired long ago & don't need to borrow. The last salary I received was when I was 43 years old in 1986 & that was from my own company.
