Solly can promise all he likes. The board has already fixed a date for dropping the shareholder discount and Solly was on the board when that decision was taken, his continueing presence will not change that.
As for his other interests, you don't really believe they will move outside of the family do you? Solly is a squirrel by nature, he collects and stores things - the more things the better.

As for Gerry Harvey, the master spruiker, yes he could make a contribution but wont get the chance. CML and HN compete on a number of fronts, a situation which is increasing with CML's supercentres flogging white and brown goods.
