Help out the guys to the North...really needed.
Cyclone appeal fund launched
March 20, 2006
AUSTRALIANS have been urged to dig deep and help the victims of Cyclone Larry, with an appeal fund launched by the Queensland Government today.
The cyclone has battered communities in far north Queensland, with the worst affected areas including the farming town of Innisfail and surrounds.
Premier Peter Beattie said the state government would kick off the appeal fund with a $100,000 donation, while the Commonwealth Bank had given $50,000.
He urged members of the public to get behind the victims and donate whatever they could.
"I urge everyone to dig deep and help people who have suffered in the devastation wreaked by the cyclone," Mr Beattie said.

"I'm sure everyone is saddened by the devastation, suffering and hardship caused in the disaster area."
Mr Beattie said the Government was working with its federal and local counterparts to repair infrastructure as soon as possible.
The appeal would be an effective way to help people directly affected by the storm.
Donations can be made at any Commonwealth Bank branch. Cheques can be made out to the Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal fund, account number 064-013-1000-6800.
An appeal hotline (1800 150 411) will be opened later today to accept donations by credit card.
