Lots of talk about tariffs and effect on REE. Today REE had the biggest drop this year.
Nd, Pr, and NdPr both oxides and metals had the biggest drop this year all over 1%. Magnets had big drops as well but not the biggest this year. Why do these things keep going down with all this talk about impact?
I find it interesting the very same people that say they are not concerned with profits, Which is half of PE Seem to post the most about things that will make REE prices go up and therefor improve profits and PE
It is simple. Profits Divided by Shares = EPS. EPS divided into Share price= PE. 1/PE is what A company is returning on the share price.
Today Lynas's PE is 167. So Lynas is earning 0.6% on your share price. How many are happy with this return? Actual less than that because That includes second half of 2024 earnings and it is very likely Earnings will drop again with the 2025 AR.
There is one flaw in my argument, SMM is spot prices inside China. With Restrictions in China a surplus maybe accumulating inside China. Unlike over a dozen years ago REE is no longer traded on CBOE so there is no way to check on non-China prices. Next Monday we can look at what Lynas is receiving for their product and see what correction factor we should apply to SMM, Soon SMM may not apply at all. Lower prices will indicate how bad it is hurting China, and when China may have to back off restrictions.
China is in control short term. Just like US is dependent on imports China is very dependent on Exports. Both economies will be hurt severely if they do not back down soon. This reminds me of two little boys pissing on each others shoes yelling they are getting the others shoes wet. They have to either back away or soon or run out of ammunition. It will be interesting to watch and learn. I have no idea of how this will end. I see many on this board seem to think they do. I wounder? I only took a couple of classes in economics I cannot think of anything to use as an example of how this will end.
