Brian - it may have been as you said $38bn ... I thought I heard $34bn ... but nowdays what is a billion here and a billion there for the banks ..:)
The derivatives that these guys own are scary. Greenspan said he with his Math PHD and about 200 others as well couldn't understand a lot of what was being written .. (sorry - I don't have a link to the interview ... but he did say as such ...)
