    Some asset fire sale perhaps - like MFS with Stella.

    From the banks view point what is the fastest and least risk process that will enable them to get maximum money back fast.

    Liquidation is slow - and the banks debts are unsecured and they have to compete with each other for a piece - so this may not be a desirable option.

    The network of interconnected liabilities strangely does serve to protect them. Financial genius - or a dogs breakfast....
