The exception does not prove the rule!
Just go to a major vehicle auction or have a dekko at speedos in your local car yard and you'll find on average
that 4x4s have about the same kilometers on the clock as equivalent year-model cars.
It is of argueable merit to own and maintain a big 4x4 to tow the caravan on the annual pilgrimage camping holiday.
depreciation is normally 10% p/a and if it is an older unit with lower depreciation, then repair and maintenance will
be much higher particuluarly if you are in NSW where there are annual roadworthy inspections.
On the other hand, if this 4x4 is used by the grey brigade to holiday for months on the road per year, then they
should not crib about the higher rego costs. Their biggest overhead will be fuel costs which are rising annually.
