Birdman this is very impressive given how much China's economy has grown in that time. It was growing at close to 10% per annum for much of that period. So with the economy growing strongly, but coal not growing at all, your own words are evidence that coal is a steadily reducing percentage of Chinese energy.

The article also points out that the "new" coal approvals aren't significantly additive, they mostly replace depleted mines.

Also their committed target is to peak by 2030. So far they are still doing better than that.
