    Got it first time around - the BOM themselves say averages cant be used for some things but must be used for others - their answer varies with the narrative desired....

    Averages mislead as does outlier data depending upon the context.

    Your article mentions how pre 1910 data is excluded - funny how that data excluded eliminates the desired upward trend if included. You accept these various reasons far far far too easily - ie Australians around the country all fraudulently recorded their temperatures back in 1886 on the basis you don't like the thermometers used. It is not even considered that all of that data could have understated the temperatures. ie no urban heating effect back then! Yet urban heating is ignored by you but this alone can be the reason for the tiny change claimed.

    I never said to merge the data - quite the opposite. Comprehension skills lacking big time with you!

    I said to leave the data alone alltogether.

    If data is missing then it is missing. Dont fiddle with things and leave yourself open to charges of fraud. Common sense really.
