Integrating new cleaner/renewable energy production into what we have now should always be the aim.
That doesn’t cancel out using cleaner systems of coal/gas energy systems as there has been advancements in these systems as well (they didn’t stop trying to make them more efficient/cleaner in the 50-60’s).
The Gap between what we would like right now and what we can realistically hope for isn’t effected by political wishes or targets so I try not to get too caught up in these claims or targets fo ten, thirty or end of the century targets (govnuts love to guild a Lilly or three).
Those who truely believe or truely disbelieve and follow their preferred point of view will only listen to the monologue as they can’t accept that what we have is a dialogue on climate and our effects as humans on climate.
The science we have now is still theoretical and denying that could be detrimental to future generations as much as ignoring the need for the next generation energy supplies.
PS I’m not really suggesting that you are at one end or the other, it was more of a general statement.
