noticed that GUL owns 20% of Hydromining Coal Australia Pty Ltd and webpage http://www.hydromining.com.au/ under construction..is this the same equipment being trialled by pike river?

Hydro mining is scheduled to start during the October-December 2009 quarter, boosting production to one million tonnes a year.

Colin Randall has a company called International Surface Miners ... ISM is considering to form a strategic alliance with a contractor. The new entity will be specialised in trials of the surface miners and in carrying out contracts required surface miners for better efficiency of the mine and meeting the environmental constrains. Starting up in mining multiseam coal deposits there is a great potential to expand into other minerals applications. Our first trial is anticipated in October - we'll keep you posted!
