Following the successful inaugural Botswana Coal & Energy Conference held in November 2011, the event returns in 2013. The updated agenda is currently being developed in conjunction with industry experts
Botswana represents Africa's exciting new coal and energy province, and has generated considerable buzz within the African and international coal , energy and investment industries. Botswana represents 66% of Africa's known coal resources - over 210 billion tonnes (some suggest this will rise to over 320 billion tonnes), making it Africa's second largest coal resource.
There are many comparisons with the exciting rapid developments we have seen recently with Mozambique's coal sector (as well as South Africa's Waterberg region)- with numerous exploration companies actively engaging in significant exploration programmes in the country. Botswana is crawling with exploration and development teams from Australia, Canada, South Africa and many others who are planning to develop Botswana's immense coal wealth. China and India have made no secret of their need to import large volumes of thermal coal in the years to come to fuel their growth, and Botswana coal is on the radar as a potential supplier.
