Who is the enemy? I seem to remember seeing images of United States bombers flying in a dropping a bomb and running away as fast as the engines would take them.
So, they didn't melt away, no way, they flew away, quick smart.
So, really what is the difference?
And all their troubles, the US troops, I wonder how they would have handled 5 years of almost endless War, as did my father in-law. Away from home and your loved ones for many years at a time, in locations that now would appear almost impossible to live in, under conditions that are or were almost impossible !
